How to host a PHP application from an external directory outside apache/htdocs ?

I have a directory on my computer outside my Apache web server installation. I wrote a couple of PHP applications in this directory and my development is continuing. Every time I have a major milestone, I copy the php files to a folder in htdocs directory of the apache web server.

My question is how can I host my application from the external directory (i.e. E:\phpdev\myapplication ) ?

How can I check which TCP/IP ports are in use?

I just installed Tomcat on top of existing installations of a bunch of web application servers and I eventually get an exception saying that the port is in use.

My question is how can I check which TCP / IP ports are currently in use?

how can I manually synchronize nodes in websphere application server?

Node synchronization fails in was admin console and breaking things up when starting servers. Some servers are not even starting in this case.

I'm wondering if there's some other way of doing it?
