I think your hardware has a problem. This is not a feature to be set on or off - even by low-level tweaks.

	There are online web applications which simply let you do that.

	Two of them still working to date are:

 http://www.fbdown.net

 http://www.downvids.net (also lets you download YouTube videos)

Answered: Can't copy files to external USB drive on my Mac

The USB disk you are using must be formatted in NTFS format. On Mac OS X, you can read NTFS disks but cannot write to them (or delete any files on NTFS) by default.

There's a low cost solution to be able to write to and delete files from NTFS disks:

See this article:

http://maclord.ozarweb.com/mevzu/problem-writing-ntfs-on-mac/

Answered: how can I edit the hosts file on mac os x mavericks?

	From the Go menu in Finder, select Go To Folder... (or just press Command + Shift + G) , type in /private/etc and then hit Return. The hosts file is there.

	If you're gonna work in the Terminal, just tpye cd /private/etc to reach the directory or if you're gonna edit it with a command line-based text editing tool like pico, nano or vi you can simply type:

	$ sudo pico /private/etc/hosts

	or

	$ sudo vi /private/etc/hosts

	or

	$ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
